The Pioneer Valley town of Belchertown is home to about 15,000 people. On June 3, town clerk Terry Camerlin told the Valley Post that 1,121 people attended the annual town meeting in Belchertown on May 31. They voted overwhelmingly in favor of funding education at a level that will ensure that kids can read, write, do at least basic math, and hopefully be active members of a democracy.

Brattleboro's annual town meeting lasts all day. The annual town meeting in Dummerston, Vermont, which borders Brattleboro, normally goes from 10 a.m. until around 2 p.m., with a lunch break. Many votes at the Dummerston meeting are voice votes.
