Kasey Chambers Concert in Northampton this Winter

Kasey Chambers is from the Australian outback. “I grew up on the Nullarbor Plain with my family for the first 10 years of my life. We did all of our cooking on open fire -- my dad hunted for our food,” she said. On her new album she is joined by Alan Pigram, an Aboriginal person from the outback. You can hear the first song from Chambers' new album at:

Some of her older songs have almost 1 million views on YouTube but they aren't as good as her new songs.

Australia is about the same size as the USA minus Alaska. Australia's population is 24 million; the USA's is 326 million. Less than 1 million people live in Alaska.

Chambers will play at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton on February 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets are about $40, depending on when you buy them. The Iron Horse is an outstanding venue.

In other Australian music news, Midnight Oil played in Boston last year. On an earlier tour they played on the back of a flatbed truck during lunch hour on a weekday outside Exxon Mobil's corporate offices in midtown Manhattan to protest the company's pollution. One of their songs has more than 100 million views on YouTube.
