Thanks to the work of activists in the Pioneer Valley who have a web site at www.TrainsInTheValley.org starting in 2030, passenger trains between Springfield and Boston will be faster and more frequent. “Amtrak runs one trip in each direction (per day) at the moment between Springfield and Boston. The scheduled travel for this trip time is about two hours and 30 minutes at the moment. The plan is for this trip to take just under two hours in 2030. The plan is to add two additional trips in each direction in 2030, as a first step in adding service along this corridor,” Ben Heckscher told the Valley Post. He runs the Northampton-based group Trains in the Valley.
