On March 24 at 4 p.m. in Holyoke, there will be a two-hour rally for justice. Workers at Stop & Shop throughout New England are asking the billion dollar company for fair wages and benefits. Stop & Shop workers in the Valley are union members. They have a web site at www.ufcw1459.com.
The rally will be at 28 Lincoln Street. The public is invited. Details are at:

On average, workers in the USA make about 27 percent higher wages when they join a union. That's according to www.bls.gov. Most union contracts say workers can only be fired for "just cause." Non-union workers can be fired at any time for no reason.
Other workers in the Valley who belong to a union include carpenters; phone, internet and electric company workers; all the workers at UPS; public school teachers; and hospital workers, including hundreds at the Brattleboro Retreat; and hundreds of workers at food co-ops.
