Two hundred or so people attended a Women's March rally in Brattleboro on October 17. Protesters held signs that said, “Black Lives Matter,” that called for gay rights and for action on climate change, and that encouraged people to vote. The second photo, below, shows the rally. Organizers have a web site at www.WomensMarch.com. One reliable source said about 150 people were at the Brattleboro rally; another said 225 or so.

A union rally on October 21 in Westfield, Massachusetts drew about 50 people. Westfield borders Holyoke. Rally organizers have a web site at www.MassNurses.org. The rally was outside Noble hospital. The hospital is owned by Baystate corporation. In a statement organizers said, “Noble nurses have scheduled a safe, socially distanced informational picket... prompted by Baystate’s failure to provide information and its refusal to agree to nurses' contract proposals to preserve and improve hospital services, and properly value the care nurses have provided during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.”
