About 40 people attended a rally in Greenfield on January 8. The goal was to close the Guantanamo Bay prison. Paki Wieland was at the Greenfield event. Westfield, Massachusetts borders West Springfield, which borders Springfield. The military wants to fly incredibly loud fighter jets that it keeps in Westfield low over Green Mountain National Forest, near Brattleboro, on a regular basis, forever. Activists are fighting the scheme. They have a web site at www.StandingTrees.org.
