On June 11 in Greenfield, there will be a rally against a proposed fracked gas pipeline. The rally starts at 6 p.m. outside the Greenfield Middle School at 195 Federal Street. At 7 p.m. at the school, state regulators will hold a public hearing about the proposal.
The proposal comes from Texas-based Kinder Morgan Corporation. The pipeline would carry gas that is mined using a process called “fracking,” which poisons drinking water. Fracked gas is a fossil fuel. It causes climate change, which the world's leading scientists say is a major threat to earth's ability to support human life.
The pipeline would pass near Greenfield, Keene, and Brattleboro. It would run from near Albany, New York to near Boston.
Fracked gas is mined by Exxon Mobil corporation. The CEO of Exxon Mobil makes about $40 million a year. Exxon Mobil received $6.2 billion in subsidies from taxpayers in the USA between 2010 and 2012. That's according to www.AmericansForTaxFairness.org.

I am a Berkshire Gas customer and would be interested in publicly switching to a different provider if there were a group of people interested in doing this. Contact me by email at ferdwulkan@gmail.com. June 11 might be a good time for a public action or announcement if we had a group of households leaving because of BG's threats and ultimatums.
