200 March, Rally

About 100 people marched in Amherst on April 21. They were calling for peace. With 4 percent of the world's population, the USA spends as much money on war as the rest of the world combined. The march organizers have a web site at https://WeAreDissenters.org.

About 100 people, including people from the county that's home to Brattleboro, attended a rally against mass incarceration in Montpelier, Vermont, organizer Jayna Ahsaf told the Valley Post on April 23. She was replying to an April 17 email from the Valley Post. “The rally went really well,” Ahsaf said. The organizers have a web site at www.NationalCouncil.us. No nation keeps such a high percentage of its people in prison as the USA. Europe's rate is a third of ours. The rally was on April 15.

The workers at the Trader Joe's supermarket in Hadley, Massachusetts are negotiating their first union contract. Hadley borders Northampton. The next bargaining session starts May 2. More information is at: www.TraderJoesUnited.org.
