On May 24, the nurses' union at the Greenfield hospital announced it had a victory when the hospital agreed to keep open its mental health department, which it had threatened to close. Amtrak is adding another daily round-trip from Springfield to New York City, starting June 5, Ben Heckscher told the Valley Post. He runs a Northampton-based group that has a web site at www.TrainsInTheValley.org. Traveling by train is better for the environment than traveling by car.
